The famous steam locomotive, ROCKET, built by George Stephenson. In 1829 this steam loco hauled thrice its own weight at Rainhill, England. Later it was used in the Manchester Liverpool Railway. Arthur Wellesley the Duke of Wellington was present at the inauguration. There was the unfortunate first railway accident which took place then. Mr. Husskinson, MP from Liverpool, was hit by a coach door and he fell on the adjoining tracks only to be hit fatally by an oncoming locomotive.

In 1903, the Wright brothers flew their plane on the sands of Kitty Hawk.
Heavier than air machines were ruled out by an eminent scientific personality.

the first powered heavier than air flight.
