Abstract Flight Simulation for Satellite Launch Vehicles is an essential activity in the life cycle of any mission. It commences in the very preliminary stages of mission design, and continues till a few hours before the actual launch. The activity is carried out in different phases, starting with all-digital simulations to real-time simulations with the flight instruments. The flight environment modelled during simulation tests covers a large variety of disturbances ? from medium to large dispersions, to impossibly high disturbances ? primarily to test the operation of the flight software under all conditions, including failure conditions. An essential feature of the final phase of simulations is their operation in a real time environment, simulating the actual flight environment to a very large extent. The range of simulations carried out prior to a launch provides confidence that the flight software is free from design faults, and will operate as predicted.
