PhD and MPhil Programmes

Some of the Centre's faculty are recognized by the University as PhD guides in disciplines such as Physics and Scientific Computing. Admissions to these PhD programmes take place as per the policies of the University.

The Centre does not offer an MPhil programme.

Certificate Courses

A number of short-duration certificate courses on topics of current interest are organized by the Centre from time to time. These include the Linux operating system, the LaTeX document preparation system, the R statistical computing environment, etc.

For information, write to coordinator AT cms.unipune.ac.in.

Credit Courses for Campus Students

All courses from the Centre's academic programmes (see above) are open to registered post-graduate students of Savitribai Phule Pune University campus departments under the University's choice-based credit system.

To enroll, contact office in person, or via email to coordinator AT cms.unipune.ac.in, indicating

  • the course/s that you are interested in, and
  • your background relevant to the course/s that you are interested in.

You may need to undergo an informal interview/counselling session to assess your background in the light of any pre-requisites for courses of your interest. Enrollment will generally be on a first-come-first-served basis conditional upon this interview/councelling session. The number of such seats is limited by the available infrastructure at the Centre, especially for courses with a substantial hands-on computing component. We may not be able to accomodate you in a course that has already begun (however, you may wish to discuss this with us; please contact office in person, or via email to coordinator AT cms.unipune.ac.in).

First/third semester (usually) commences in mid-July. Second/fourth semester (usually) commenses in early January. Commencement dates for individual courses may vary. Please be sure to contact well ahead in time.

We require a formal request letter from the head of your parent department. Fees are charged as per University's prevailing policies. Final decision in all matters pertaining to enrollment in the Centre's courses lies with the Centre's Director.
