Colloquium | Grad Student to Co-founder - Commercializing University Research

Title Grad Student to Co-founder - Commercializing University Research
Speaker Pushkar Kanhere, Salus Nanotechnologies , Singapore

Dr. Pushkar Kanhere is a co-founder of Salus Nanotechnologies, an advanced materials company, developing functional coatings. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore with PhD in Materials Engineering with expertise in characterization techniques, structure-property relations, complex oxides (photocatalysts, band gaps, doping), functional coatings (self cleaning. anti-icing, anti-bacterial), and materials modeling.
Date & Time Thursday, 11 January 2018 | 11:00-12:00
Venue Kelkar Laboratory
Centre for Modeling and Simulation, Savitribai Phule Pune University
Abstract After graduating from Nanyang Tech, Pushkar ventured into start-up space. He will talk about his research work, commercialization experience and his start-up story so far. He will also emphasize on what it takes to build a 'deep-tech' start-up. Pushkar strongly believes that 'deep tech' or engineering/science based start-ups have tremendous potential to create a positive impact on society, providing solutions to the problems we face today. Being at the forefront of the technology and equipped with 'tools to invent', graduate students have an 'unfair advantage' to lead such start-ups.
