Abstract The approximately 2 meters long human genome is packed inside the cell nucleus, which is a sphere just 6 micrometers wide, as a three-dimensional (3D) structure. This complex, compact 3D conformation of the genome makes regulation of genes on it by elements that are located distantly on the linear DNA sequence possible by bringing them spatially close. In this talk, I will begin by briefly introducing the experimental techniques to probe the 3D organization of the genome. I will then discuss how interpretable machine learning methods can help gain insights into the complex 3D regulatory mechanisms of the genome.
Organizer/Host Harshada Kelkar (harshada.kelkar@cms.unipune.ac.in) & Jafar Habshee (jafar.habshee@cms.unipune.ac.in)
