Abstract | There are two kinds of modeling techniques in this world: Physics-based techniques and data-driven techniques. In this talk, the speaker will argue that there is a useful and optimal way of combining these two to produce models that are accurate, yet computable. As an example of this philosophy, the speaker will present a new formulation of elastoplasticity theory, and discuss its implications in material mechanics, hydrodynamics, and more. |
